Music ingestion
Music ingestion - including video ingestion - is a core requirement of any modern music service. The ability to receive, process, and publish newly licensed content quickly and accurately is fundamental to maintaining a competitive catalogue and delivering a high-quality user experience.
At Tuned Global, this capability is powered by Intaga, our proprietary ingestion system that sits at the heart of the platform.
Overview
Intaga is responsible for managing inbound deliveries from license holders and transforming them into fully enriched, service-ready assets. It operates continuously and autonomously, ensuring that newly released content is processed and made available as quickly as possible, subject to rights and availability.
The system handles both audio and video ingestion workflows, maintaining consistency across all content types.

Core capabilities
1. Inbound delivery management
Intaga ingests content from multiple license holders, handling a wide range of delivery formats and metadata standards. It normalises these inputs into a consistent internal structure, ensuring downstream systems can operate reliably.
2. Metadata transformation and enrichment
Incoming metadata is transformed and enhanced to meet platform requirements. This includes:
- Standardisation of core metadata fields
- Normalisation across inconsistent label inputs
- Enrichment with additional derived attributes
3. Real-time audio analysis
Intaga performs real-time audio scanning to extract key musical attributes, including:
- BPM (tempo)
- Musical key
These attributes enable enhanced discovery, recommendation, and playlisting experiences across the platform.
4. Asset generation
The system generates all required end assets for delivery to client applications and services. This ensures that once ingestion is complete, content is immediately usable across all supported surfaces.
5. Track disambiguation
A critical feature of Intaga is its ability to identify when multiple tracks represent the same underlying recording.
The system assigns a disambiguation ID to group equivalent recordings, ensuring:
- Awareness of duplicate recordings to inform better user experiences
- Accurate catalogue representation
- Improved recommendation and analytics quality
Scalability and performance
Intaga is designed for high-throughput, elastic processing.
- The system continuously tracks ingestion backlog
- It dynamically scales processing capacity by spawning additional instances as required
- Processing capacity is aligned to meet targeted completion timeframes
The platform has been tested at ingestion rates of:
- 1 million tracks per hour
- Achieved by scaling to approximately 700 concurrent processing instances
This fully automated system operates 24/7 with no human intervention required.
Release readiness
Intaga ensures that newly delivered products are processed and made available as quickly as possible following release, subject to licensing constraints.
The goal is simple: when content is released, it should be available to end users without delay.
Quality Assurance
Completion of ingestion does not mark the end of the process.
Every album and video undergoes a dedicated Music Quality Assurance (QA) workflow to validate:
- Metadata accuracy
- Asset integrity
- Playback readiness
This ensures that content delivered to end users meets a consistent quality standard.
